The perfect summer picnic

Warm summer days are perfect for a relaxed outdoor picnic. There's nothing better than enjoying the sun, being surrounded by nature and eating delicious food in a green setting. In this blog post, we share with you tips and ideas for the perfect summer picnic to experience an unforgettable time outdoors.

Choose the right place:

The first step to the perfect summer picnic is choosing the right place. Look for a beautiful park, an idyllic lakeside or a well-tended woodland area. Look for shady spots to escape the hot sun. Quiet surroundings away from traffic noise and crowds create a relaxed atmosphere. How about the Munterer Alm? This is just a five-minute drive from our hotel.

Pack delicious food and drinks:

A picnic is only as good as the food you bring. Prepare a selection of tasty and easily transportable food, such as fresh salads, sandwiches, wraps, fruit and vegetable skewers, cheese and cold meat platters or light snacks such as nuts and crisps. Don't forget to bring refreshing drinks such as lemonade, iced tea or homemade fruit juices. We prefer to take banana bread with us and share our favourite recipe with you.

Ingredients:

  • - 3 ripe bananas
  • - 2 cups flour
  • - 1/2 cup sugar
  • - 1/4 cup melted butter
  • - 2 eggs
  • - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • - 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • - Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180°C and lightly grease a loaf tin. In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until they have a uniform consistency. FNow add the sugar, melted butter, eggs and vanilla extract and mix everything together in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the bananas and stir in slowly until everything is well combined and the batter is as homogeneous as possible. However, it is important not to stir too much to prevent the bread from becoming too dense. If you like, you can now add chopped nuts or chocolate chips and fold in carefully. Finally, the dough must be into the prepared loaf tin. Bake the banana bread for about 50-60 minutes or until golden brown. Leave the banana bread to cool completely in the tin before removing it from the tin and cutting into slices.

Use the right equipment:

To ensure that your picnic runs smoothly, you should have the right equipment with you. Pack a picnic blanket on which you can make yourself comfortable. A basket or cool box will keep your food fresh and chilled. Don't forget to take plates, cutlery, glasses, napkins and a rubbish bag to leave the place clean. Of course, you can also take games with you.
