It's very Christmassy: The first Advent is just around the corner and the festival of love is within reach. Christmas is known to be the festival of peace, tranquillity and reflection. But in reality, things are often anything but calm and serene. For many, the Christmas period is the most stressful time of the year, as everything needs to be done by Christmas Eve. Whether it's the end of the year at work, buying the last Christmas presents or putting together the menu for the Christmas holidays - December is usually associated with a lot of stress. In this blog post, we reveal how you can avoid this. Oh, merry and stress-free Christmas - let's go!
Every year again: 5 tips against Christmas stress
Tip 1
We all know it: we set our minds to something and stubbornly try to achieve this goal with perfection. Yet it would be beneficial, especially during the Advent season, to slow down a little and let the year come to a cosy end. Why don't you dial down your own perfectionism for a change and let serenity take over? Not everything has to be perfect! It's much more important to enjoy time together with your loved ones. It doesn't matter whether it's three or 10 types of biscuits this year!
Tip 2
Realise the true meaning of Christmas. Realise that the Christmas holidays are not just about food and presents, but about gratitude and love. Sure, a delicious menu and personalised gifts will put a smile on everyone's face, but these things should be a bonus and not the absolute non plus ultra. So don't stress about finding the perfect gift for everyone and putting together the most elaborate menu - the best gift you can give is time together.

Tip 3
Do you already think about the 24th every day or do you live a relaxed life in the here and now? If the former is the case, it is highly recommended that you also adopt an attitude of mindfulness and gratitude and learn to recognise and appreciate the little things in the here and now. A nice smile from your neighbour, your favourite Christmas song on the radio or a good conversation - don't constantly think about the "big moments" that are yet to come, but enjoy the little things in everyday life. Because that's what matters at Christmas time!
Tip 4
Speaking of indulgence - Christmas is the perfect time to treat yourself to something good again. When was the last time you treated yourself to some time out? Has it been a while? Then now is the time to plan a few hours just for yourself and do something good for yourself. Whether it's a cosy candlelit bath, a nice walk through the Christmas-lit winter wonderland or a piece of your favourite chocolate while listening to your favourite playlist - enjoy your little break and try to really relax.

Tip 5
Is your to-do list for December getting longer and longer and are your nerves starting to fray? Why always prepare everything on your own? Have you ever thought about asking family members for help to take the pressure off yourself? Divide up the tasks involved in preparing for the Christmas holidays and work as a team with your loved ones. Your family will be happy to help you with the Christmas preparations and lend a hand themselves.
As you can see, the key to the whole thing is to simply rethink and look at Christmas with different eyes. Sure, that's easier said than done, but it's especially important at Christmas time to reflect and focus on what's really important in order to avoid the annual stress as much as possible. We hope that our 5 tips will help you to make the Christmas season as stress-free as possible. With this in mind, we wish you a peaceful Advent with many wonderful moments with your loved ones!
