Where have I put my mobile phone again? Have I switched off the cooker? Where did I actually park my car? When we are let down by our memory, it feels pretty unpleasant. How good that you can counteract this by training your memory in everyday life. Wondering how to do this? The answer is: brain training! Regularly solving memory exercises can help to train your (short-term) memory. We'll tell you how you can improve your concentration and thinking skills and show you a few helpful exercises. Have fun puzzling - let's go!
Fancy some mental exercise? How to get your grey cells in shape!
Do without technical aids
In the age of Web 2.0, there are countless devices and apps that do all the thinking for us. All important telephone numbers are stored on our mobile phones, the digital calendar reminds us of all our appointments for the coming week and the navigation device shows us every route, no matter how short. That's all over now! Don't allow your brain to get lazy. Of course, this doesn't mean that you should ban all technical aids from your everyday life, but if you dial one or two telephone numbers by hand and leave your navigation system switched off, this is very good memory training. Try it out and be amazed at how much you can remember without the technical aids!
Break routines
We develop automatisms through frequent repetition. Many things we do every day happen unconsciously and we hardly have to strain our brains. One method of brain jogging is to bring some variety into your life by breaking up routine actions. Don't always take the same route to the supermarket or simply use your other hand to brush your teeth. No matter what you do - just do it differently! Such actions stimulate creative processes in your brain and thus boost your memory.

Use the loci method
The so-called loci method dates back to ancient times and is based on the principle of linking places or objects with learning content. It doesn't matter whether you want to memorise a lecture, new vocabulary or the shopping list for today's shopping trip - the loci method helps you to train your memory. Simply fixate a few prominent points in your surroundings and assign a specific learning content to each point. The many points form a memory route that you can either walk along or follow with your eyes. After a short period of practice, you will certainly be able to recall your mental route point by point. Try it out!
