Superfoods: the top ten healthiest foods

Superfood here, superfood there - we are often confronted with this buzzword these days. But what are these so-called superfoods anyway and what added value does eating them bring? We explain which foods are superfoods and which criteria make a food a superfood.

What is a superfood?
Superfoods are characterised by the fact that they contain an above-average amount of nutrients such as vitamins, proteins and antioxidants compared to other foods and therefore have a positive effect on health and physical well-being. But which foods are superfoods?

The top ten best superfoods

Avocado
Avocados are known to be one of the most hyped fruits of our time and are particularly popular with athletes. And rightly so, as the fruit from Mexico contains unsaturated fatty acids, lots of vitamins, valuable trace elements and minerals.

Berries
Whether local blueberries or exotic acai or goji berries - berries of all kinds contain lots of vitamins and antioxidants and are therefore among the healthiest superfoods.

Pomegranate
The pomegranate not only tastes great, studies even confirm that the superfruit can lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease. The superfood also works wonders for digestive problems.

Beetroot
Similar to the pomegranate, beetroot is also a true superfood for the heart and circulation. The nutrient-rich vegetable is also an excellent source of iron and strengthens the immune system.

Kale
Who would think that good old kale would also turn out to be a hip superfood? Kale is a real energy supplier that contains lots of vitamins, phytochemicals, antioxidants, protein, iron and fibre. All these great ingredients make it a particularly healthy superfood.

Papaya
Papaya is a real superfood among tropical fruits and contains a range of healthy ingredients. The high vitamin C content and the miracle enzyme papain deserve special mention here. This enzyme is responsible for the fact that the tropical fruit promotes digestion on the one hand and boosts fat burning on the other.

Chia seeds
The seeds contain lots of healthy fatty acids, vitamin E and calcium and therefore strengthen the immune system. The digestive fibre and antioxidants also make chia seeds a great superfood.

Ginger
The superfood ginger should ideally be mixed into every drink, whether tea, juice, water or smoothie, because it energises us and has an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect.

Turmeric
Almost everyone has eaten this healthy spice at some point - most people know it in the form of curry, as turmeric is responsible for the yellow colour. Turmeric has both an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect and is therefore best consumed daily.

As you can see, the top ten best superfoods work wonders and can also support a balanced diet. However, it is important that the superfoods are consumed regularly (preferably daily) and combined with other healthy foods. Under these conditions, you are definitely doing something good for your body when you consume superfoods - you will see.
