How to create new motivation

We all know those mornings when we want to snuggle back into a warm, cosy bed, days when we lack focus or when we simply don't have the motivation to go jogging. It is important to know whether our body needs rest in such moments or whether we just lack motivation. We have gone on a search and picked out the best tips and tricks that are guaranteed to help you start the day more energised and full of motivation again.

What exactly does motivation mean? Motivation is simply what drives us. Once we have worked out how to set ourselves suitable incentives and which routines work for us, getting up, staying focussed and being motivated to exercise will definitely work.

Concrete goals

It is often important to set specific goals and not to make vague wishes.nto define the goal. "I want to do more sport" is often not effective as it is too vague. How often is more? When should you do more sport? If the goals are vague, it is easier to find excuses: "I only wanted to do sport once a week anyway" is much easier to say if you don't have a clear idea and haven't made a plan. That's why it's important to set specific goals and, for example, choose fixed days for exercise. If you know that you go to the gym every Thursday at 6.00 pm, you can structure the rest of your week so that Thursdays from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm are blocked off for a sports class. It is also helpful to always keep in mind why you have this goal and why you are not postponing your sports class. Do you want to feel better? Is it about health? These are all important aspects that help you to motivate yourself better.

Reduce distractions

The most important step is taken when we have slipped into our sports clothes or finally read the non-fiction book that has been sitting on our bedside table for weeks. Now it's also important to eliminate potential distractions. Perhaps you have your mobile phone within easy reach when you actually want to read in peace? With every message, the screen lights up and the temptation is great not to look at your mobile phone quickly and then linger on it for a few more minutes when you already have it with you. Many people benefit from having their mobile phone out of reach and not being able to see it and therefore not being distracted by a flashing screen. If even that doesn't help, you can consider leaving the mobile phone in someone else's care and picking it up again after a certain time.

Rewards

In the best case scenario, the first two points are enough to get your motivation back up to speed, but on some days, it takes more than fixed times or inner motivation. Rewards have a motivational effect on the brain. Scheduling rewards and having something to look forward to can be a huge incentive. Perhaps you reward yourself with a delicious meal or a nice film that you want to see at the cinema? This way you have an additional, extrinsic incentive alongside the "obvious reasons" such as a healthier lifestyle or additional knowledge at work.

Celebrate successes

In the best-case scenario, the plan works out and you have successfully completed your sports session, devoted yourself to an interesting book or achieved something else. Praising and recognising yourself when you've done something right is incredibly important if you want a course of action to become a habit. So don't be shy about patting yourself on the back and saying you're proud of yourself! Gaining motivation and getting yourself together is a great achievement and should be treated as such.

We at dasMei**** wish you every success and lots of motivation in all your endeavours! You can do it 😉
