The quintessential spring drink: Vietnamese iced coffee
How to make the best Vietnamese iced coffee at home
Vietnamese coffee is a little different to European coffee. If you want to prepare an original Vietnamese Iced Coffee, it is therefore advisable to buy a typical Vietnamese coffee. The preferred coffee for Vietnamese Iced Coffee is a combination of "Trung Nguyen Premium Blend" and "Café du Monde coffee with chicory". If you don't want to buy these two types of coffee or can't get hold of them easily, you can also use normal dark-roasted coffee.
So, that's the coffee sorted. Now it's time to prepare it!
You will need the following ingredients for a Vietnamese iced coffee:
- 2 tsp dark roasted coffee
- Hot water
- 2-4 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
- Crushed ice
- French coffee press

And this is how it works:
Step 1:
Unscrew the coffee press from inside the filter. Add 2 teaspoons of dark roasted ground coffee. Screw the press back on so that the ground coffee compacts. The press should feel firm when turning, but still give a little so that the coffee can unfold.
Step 2:
Now pour just enough hot water into the coffee filter to soak the coffee grounds. Leave to stand for 30 seconds.
Step 3:
Now fill the filter with enough hot water to fill the container. Place the lid on the filter and allow the coffee to brew. It should take around 5 minutes for the coffee to finish brewing.
Step 4:
Now pour a little sweetened condensed milk into a tall glass and pour in the freshly brewed coffee. Stir vigorously so that the condensed milk combines with the hot coffee.
Step 5:
Once you have a homogeneous mixture, add the crushed ice. Et voila - the perfect Vietnamese iced coffee is ready!
Now all that's left to do is sit back and enjoy. We hope you enjoy making them and wish you a cosy coffee party with your loved ones!
