Christmas trees, straw stars and Advent wreaths are well known traditions at Christmas. But how about thinking outside the box and creating innovative and, above all, creative Christmas decorations? New interpretations of old classics definitely provide variety during the festive season. Whether pine cone Christmas tree decorations, a gingerbread landscape in a jar or Christmas trees made from book pages - we have 3 great craft ideas for you that are not only quick to make but also beautiful to look at!

1 pine cone Christmas tree decoration

You need:

- Pine or fir cones
- Colourful mini felt balls
- Golden cord
- Hot glue gun

This is how it works:

Turn the pine or fir cones upside down and glue the felt balls on using the hot glue gun. Then take a small piece of string and glue it to the cone to hang it up. Et voila - when the glue is dry, you can attach the pine cone decoration to the Christmas tree.

2 fir trees made from book pages

 You need:

- Old book
- Shish kebabs
- Lantern or small flower pot
- Potting soil or potting foam

This is how it works:

Cut a few pages out of an old book and shape them into increasingly smaller rectangles. Skewer the pages in order of size on a skewer and place the whole thing in a lantern or small flower pot. To ensure that the skewer holds properly, add potting compost or floral foam to the pots beforehand. Et voila - you have a cute little Christmas tree that is perfect as a table decoration.

3 Gingerbread landscape in a glass

 You need:

- Gingerbread
- 8 glasses
- Icing
- Grated coconut
- Tweezers
- Marzipan
- Green food colouring
- Rosemary
- Biscuits

This is how it works:

Crumble the gingerbread and then sprinkle it into the glasses. Add a thin layer of icing and sprinkle grated coconut on top to imitate snow. Now knead the food colouring into the marzipan and shape it into trees, hearts or flowers. Then drape the marzipan moulds, rosemary and biscuits in the jar to create a small winter wonderland. Our tip: Draping works best with tweezers. Have fun decorating!

We wish you lots of fun with your handicrafts and a Merry Christmas! Enjoy some contemplative hours with your loved ones and have a good time.

All the best, theMEI**** team.
